Food Loss Reduction/Food Safety and Security
Protect the country’s food safety and security and aim to achieve appropriate food supply and demand.
Self-sufficiency rate for food in Japan is 39% on a caloric basis, and we heavily rely on imports from overseas, there are always risks of being affected by foreign countries’ policies and restrictions, import and export amounts, demand, yield, prices, etc.
On the other hand, we have a problem of food loss and waste where 6 million tons of food is discarded each year in Japan. e-solutions supports awareness activities while we work on protecting food safety and security for our own and aim to achieve appropriate food supply and demand.
